1702 Shooting Lodge Charity Shoot Hits the Mark

Members, friends and guests of 1702 Shooting Lodge No. 1702 gathered at the Star Gun Club on 23 August for the Lodge’s annual Charity Shoot, enjoying a day of friendly competition while raising funds for a very worthwhile cause.

The event attracted 36 participants from four Provinces, with Masons joined by family, friends and non-Masonic guests for an enjoyable and sociable day of clay shooting.

Each participant faced the challenge of 100 clays, presented in a variety of directions and disciplines designed to test both skill and concentration. As might be expected, some clays proved rather more cooperative than others!

The day was held in support of the Army Cadet League, Middlesex and North West Sector, with the funds raised going towards its Clay Shooting Development programme, helping young cadets develop their skills and take part in the sport.

Through generous donations and a raffle, the event raised £665, with a potential Gift Aid claim expected to take the total beyond the £700 mark.

The Lodge has since rounded the donation to £1000.

There was, of course, also some friendly competition among those taking part.

The top Masonic score of the day was an impressive 73 out of 100, achieved by Jeff Bevins.

While everyone was keen to break as many clays as possible, the real success of the day was bringing together Masons, families and friends from across four Provinces in a relaxed atmosphere while supporting a cause that shares the Lodge’s enthusiasm for clay shooting.

Another excellent day for 1702 Shooting Lodge No. 1702 , once again proving that when it comes to supporting a good cause, the Lodge is certainly on target.
