A Sizzling Success for Middlesex Shooting Sports Lodge No. 1702

Building on the success of last year’s inaugural BBQ, Middlesex Shooting Sports Lodge No. 1702 once again fired up the grills at Twickenham District Masonic Centre on Friday 25th July for another outstanding evening of food, fellowship, and fundraising.

Thanks to the efforts of the Lodge’s Events Co-ordinator, W. Bro. Sam Huxter, the event was a resounding success, attracting over 120 attendees — including local residents who were warmly welcomed with complimentary burgers as part of the Lodge’s ongoing commitment to community engagement.

The BBQ raised over £1,700 in support of Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice, the chosen charity of the Worshipful Master, W. Bro. Jason Nandlal. The funds will help the hospice continue its invaluable work providing specialist care for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.

Guests were treated to a glorious summer’s evening and an exceptional menu featuring Cracked Black Pepper Burgers, Wagyu Beef Burgers (gluten free), Wild Boar & Apple Sausages, Venison Burgers, Halloumi Burgers, and Pork Cumberland Sausages — all served with generous helpings of fresh salad.

The Middlesex Teddies for Loving Care (TLC) charity was also represented at the event at the invitation of W. Bro. Sam Huxter. While not a formal TLC fundraising occasion, the charity’s display prompted generous donations totalling over £80 — enough to fund more than 26 hospital teddies to comfort children in A&E departments across the region.

A heartfelt thank you goes to W. Bro. Sam and his wife Teresa, to all the members and guests of the Middlesex Shooting Sports Lodge who helped make the evening a success, and in particular to Julia Graystone and the dedicated staff at the Twickenham District Masonic Centre for their invaluable support throughout the event.

Once again, the evening proved that when Middlesex Masons come together in good spirits and with a shared purpose, remarkable things can be achieved.
