On Monday 24th July Members of Invictus Lodge No 5957 presented a cheque of £500 to Tanglewood Monday Club who meet at the premises of the Harrow Borough Football club. The Club provides activities for adults with learning difficulties and was established in 1965. It is run by Geoff Havard MBE with the help of volunteers. Christopher Gridley the son of a deceased past Master of Invictus Lodge (W. Bro Michael Gridley) is also a member of the club and enjoys the activities the club provides. Representing the Lodge were W. Bro Kavit Nathwani (Worshipful Master) W. Bro Ashok Shah (Treasurer) and W. Bro Brian Bailie (Charity Steward).
The Monday Club Team Leader Geoff Havard, was highly appreciative of this monetary gift and posted this message on the Tanglewood web site,
“We have received a £500 donation from the Masonic Invictus Lodge. The Master of the Lodge, Kavit Nathwani, Treasurer. W. Bro Ashok Shah and Charity Steward, W. Bro Brian Bailie visited our club on Monday 24th July and presented us with a cheque. They really enjoyed their visit, and we were happy to show them what a great social club Tanglewood is.
Since their visit our guests have contacted me with the following comments:
“It was wonderful to meet Geoff, the volunteers and the wonderful people who were there. I’m glad that we were able to support our local charities and I hope we can continue to do so going forward – Kavit”.
“What a welcome we received and what a wonderful job this club does. The volunteers deserve so much credit, maybe we can do something more in the future – Brian”.
“It was a real pleasure to see so many volunteers helping out and the happiness of all those being helped. Hopefully we can do more to donate to this noble cause – Ashok”.
Geoff also made this comment, “Everyone knows what a fantastic job the Masons do for the community throughout the UK and this donation is a classic example of why it was so important that we became a registered charity earlier this year. On behalf of everyone at Tanglewood I would like to offer my sincere thanks to the Invictus Lodge”.
The Brethren of Invictus Lodge hope they will be able to support this worthy local charity again in the future.
