Brother Hammami – Community Hero

Bro Ahmed Hammami, a Master Mason of Fidelity Lodge No 7974 which meets at Cole Court, Twickenham, has honoured his Lodge and Middlesex freemasonry having been chosen to receive a “Community Hero Award” and this was presented to him by the Mayor of Richmond for providing free meals to the homeless in the Borough.  In addition, he provided meals to NHS staff and meal vouchers for local school children during the Covid pandemic. Not only this he supplied more than 50 free meals for the homeless in the Borough of Richmond Upon Thames from his restaurants in Twickenham and Teddington.

Bro Ahmed, who continues to be active in the local community remarked, “having initially attended a ‘Discover Freemasonry’ event, I found that the work of freemasons in the community reminded me of the challenges back in my home country and matched my own beliefs and aims in helping those facing difficult times in their livesIt is very satisfying to be able to help those less fortunate and I am grateful to be in a position where I can help others”.

Bro Ahmed is himself from a challenging background and as a refugee from Aleppo, Syria, arrived in the UK in 2016. He was initiated into freemasonry in 2022.
