Report by W Bro Peter Lovell MBE PPrGReg, Southgate Provincial Media Correspondent
There was a double celebration at the most recent meeting of Bush Hill Park Lodge No 7200, when it was honoured by a visit from Assistant Provincial Grand Master W Bro Robert Rough PSGD, accompanied by W Bro David Smith, Provincial Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies, and a delegation of Provincial Grand Officers.
W. Bro Robert Rough entered the Lodge to warm applause and was offered the Gavel by the Worshipful Master, W Bro Andy Rose LGR, ProvGStd (Essex), which was politely declined, but promised to do whatever he could to assist at the meeting.
True to his word, he proceeded to present a Grand Lodge Certificate to W Bro Jeremy Rosen, before introducing a surprise item. This was the presentation to W Bro David Garner, PPrJGW, of a certificate marking the 50th anniversary of his being made a Freemason, an anniversary which had occurred on the day preceding the meeting.
A brief history of David Garner’s long and distinguished career in the Craft was given, and W. Bro Robert added he was sure that further honours would come David’s way in the future. This indeed proved to be the case, as when the list of Provincial Honours was published shortly after the meeting W Bro David Garner was listed as the recipient of the highly prestigious rank of Past Provincial Senior Grand Warden.
Another highlight of a busy meeting was the Passing of Bro Edem Fiakponu to the Second Degree, a ceremony performed with great sincerity by the Worshipful Mason, who also delivered a lecture on the Tracing Board; following the delivery of the Second-Degree Charge by W Bro Peter Lovell MBE PPrGReg, the Secretary of the Lodge.
The Lodge went on to hold a very happy meeting Festive Board at Southgate Masonic Centre, presided over by the Worshipful Master.
