Chairman’s Letter

Dear All,

As Chairman of the Middlesex Masonic Sports Association (MMSA) in this our 68th year, I must first and foremost acknowledge the patronage of RW Bro Peter Baker, Pro Provincial Grand Master, who continues as our President and is an active participant in the clay pigeon shooting section.

Since its inception in 1953 the MMSA has been an integral part of our Masonic structure.

It is the oldest association in the Province of Middlesex and has a proud history of achieving its objective of “Promoting Freemasonry Through Sport”.

In fact, it was at an MMSA cricket match at the former Princess Alexandra Home in Stanmore more than 30 years ago that I was first introduced to Freemasonry.

In every section our like-minded participants enjoy competitive and recreational sport as well as taking the opportunity to raise funds for charity.

In the lifetime of the MMSA more than £350,000 has been raised for charities of all sorts, and we support sports activities for some of the most disadvantaged members of the community, particularly children.

Coincident with the Paralympics that take place every four years we arrange at the wonderful facilities of Brunel University a day where local young people with disabilities can experience these unique sports under the guidance of Paralympic coaches and medallists.

And every section runs events and coaching sessions in their specific sports for all to enjoy.

Many activities have been necessarily paused because of restrictions placed upon us by the COVID-19 pandemic, but in the coming year we hope to resume with more energy than ever before.

Every member of the Province of Middlesex is automatically a member of the MMSA, and I encourage you to find out more about sports that interest you by contacting the sections directly.

We look forward to seeing you on the field of play.

With best wishes

Paul Sully

Chairman MMSA
