A newby at St Clair Lodge 2902
St Clair Lodge No 2902 met at TDMC on Saturday 26th October and initiated a new candidate to freemasonry who had been introduced as part of the Discover Freemasonry initiative. These introductions are a great asset to Lodges and ensure the continuing life of the masonic units to which they are presented as candidates. However, there is still a “getting to know you” period so that not only the candidate can be sure that he feels in the right environment, but that the members of the Lodge can relate to potential candidate and welcome him into the Lodge.
This process of establishing a rapport was conveniently processed by inviting the candidate to meet some of the members of St Clair Lodge after LOIs. A brilliant idea and this allowed a phased introduction which was conducted over a period of time. When the moment came Mr Jyothis Nair became Brother Jyothis as he was welcomed into St Clair Lodge.

As part of the explanation of freemasonry, our customs and ethos we introduce our new member to the dress code, our charitable aims and the expectation in the fullness of time as to how he might progress within the Lodge and become an integral part. For the “eagle eyed” you will have noticed that the candidate is not wearing a white shirt. Apologies to St Clair Lodge and others might take note that as much as we emphasise the dark suit, dark shoes and socks we must not forget the white shirt bit. This, however, was not an impediment and our new Brother was welcomed into Middlesex Freemasonry. Now begins his journey and the Lodge will now take the responsibility of mentoring Brother Jyothis to ensure he is happy in his freemasonry.
