Historic Night At Harrow

Thursday 17th October will prove an historic night at Harrow Masonic Centre when Nkokonjeru Lodge No 9284 initiated a visually impaired candidate. Bro. Bakul Shah who is blind seemed to have a sixth sense and picked up the signs, token and word with incredible ease as he was led ably around the Temple by Bro. Balbinder Chana (Junior Deacon) The ceremony included some of the best light blues ritual one could hope to see with Bro. Dipesh Shah (Senior Deacon)  giving the North East Corner charge with aplomb, partially shared with Balbinder anything for the cause of charity request and an exemplary working tools from Bro. Harjit Lota  (Inner Guard). The Ancient Charge was beautifully presented by W. Bro Rutvig Patel and well received by the candidate and by all in attendance. More remarkable was the Lodge had a number of absentees through ill health and adjusted for these as well as the variables required to support the needs of the candidate. W. Bro Premhar Shah his Seconder stood in as Junior Warden and did an excellent job as did his Proposer Bro. Mahesh Rajdev Senior Warden.

Bro Bakul who has no sight whatsoever has had a very successful career in Finance including working for BP for many years. He uses an App called VoiceOver on his cell phone which gives him spoken explanation of any documents he receives and also confirms the letter/word he is typing enabling him to correspond freely.

Bro Bakul was very magnanimous at the Festive Board whilst thanking all the Brethren for the wonderful ceremony he asked that all the Brethren treat him as any other member.
