Middlesex Masonic Golf Society

Established 1953, first trophy was the Golf Challenge Cup presented to the Society by W Bro Norman Moore Deputy Prov Grand Master played in 1953 and won by Bro. E A Swann (not sure of rank).

2023 was our 70th anniversary, the annual day was played at Northwood in September and was won by a newcomer, W Bro. Clive Seager, pictured below receiving trophy from the then MMSA Chair, W Bro. Paul Sully and Golf Captain Luis Martinez.

In 1973, the society found its home at Northwood Golf Course, with many members also belonging to Northwood Golf Club. This connection was strengthened by W Bro. Alan Severn notably attending the 50th commemorative event in May 2023. The presence of Alan added a special touch to the occasion.

At the event, incoming MMSA chair W Bro APGM Bob Rough, a keen golfer, joined with Bro. Steve Bevis and guests from the Metropolitan GS, John Bennett and John Bond. A new plaque was presented to Northwood Golf Club, replacing the original on the fountain, thanks to the efforts of Scott Lowson, a past Secretary of the society. (The original fountain and plaque were gifted by the Society and presented by Roger Croome)

The year 2024 commenced with a golf day at Stanmore Golf Club on April 4th, albeit with low turnout due to rain. Fortunately, the course remained open, allowing for an 18-hole game.

Upcoming events include one at Wyke Green Golf Club on May 7th and the annual day at Northwood on June 20th. Additionally, the South East Interprovincial competition for the Beauchamp Trophy is set for September 26th at Surrey Downs, with fourteen provinces expected to participate. Oxfordshire currently holds the title.

Plans for the future include a Middlesex Inter Masonic Centre competition and potentially an inter-lodge competition by 2026, with a focus on long-term thinking.
