Explore Masonic Learning with Solomon

As a Freemason, continuous learning and understanding are key to deepening your journey within the Craft. The United Grand Lodge of England’s Solomon website is an invaluable resource for brethren at every stage of their Masonic journey.

Solomon offers a comprehensive collection of educational materials, including articles, videos, and interactive modules that delve into the rich history, symbolism, and teachings of Freemasonry. Whether you’re a new Entered Apprentice or an experienced Master Mason, Solomon provides insights and knowledge that can enhance your Masonic experience.

Why use Solomon?

  • Deepen Your Understanding: Explore the philosophy, history, and symbolism that underpin Freemasonry.
  • Convenient Learning: Access a wealth of resources at your own pace, from the comfort of your home.
  • Engage with the Craft: Participate in interactive learning experiences that will broaden your perspective and deepen your connection with the Craft.

Learning and development is a fun and key part of our masonic journey, but with so much to learn and so many places to look, it can be a challenge to find good and reliable information.

Solomon.ugle.org.uk is a Virtual Learning Environment and is structured in such a way that it encourages a natural progression through the degrees, leading to the Royal Arch.

For each of the four steps there is a “Welcome Module” designed specifically for newly made Entered Apprentices, Fellow Crafts, Master Masons and Royal Arch Companions. However, whatever level of Freemasonry you are at, you are certain to find something of interest on Solomon.

The Entered Apprentice should be directed to the Welcome Apprentice module on Solomon. Completion of the module would give the new Brother a greater understanding of the First degree and proof of proficiency for advancement. Upon Passing to the Second Degree, the next step is the Welcome Fellow Craft module, and upon Raising the Welcome Master Mason module.

Users will be awarded ‘Badges’ for successfully completing each part of a module. Once a user has completed all parts of a Welcome module, they can take a quiz. Upon successful completion of the quiz a Solomon Academy Certificate is awarded, signed by R W Bro Anthony Howlett-Bolton OBE, Chair of the UGLE Learning and Development Programme Board. I recommend it is presented during the next Lodge meeting to encourage further engagement and progression through the modules.

The final step is the completion of the Welcome Companion module. A Brother should not enrol for this module unless he is a member of the Royal Arch. Upon completion of the Welcome Companion module, I recommend his Chapter makes a presentation of the Solomon Academy Certificate to recognise his efforts and to encourage other Companions to do so.

The Welcome modules can be completed in any order providing the brother is qualified to do so.

Upon completion of all four Welcome Modules the efforts are recognised by the award of the Solomon Diploma, signed by both an Assistant Grand Master (R W Bro Steven Varley) and the Third Grand Principal (E Comp Gareth Jones OBE). It would be nice if the Diploma could be presented in a Brother’s Lodge to demonstrate the indissoluble link between the Craft and the Royal Arch.
