W. Bro Matthew Gawn WM of Campbell Lodge with Suzanne Lynn of MIND.
The year 2023 saw the 150th Anniversary of Campbell Lodge No 1415 and in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of the Middlesex Masonic Charity, the Lodge was eligible for a charitable donation of £1500 to a charity of its choosing and the Richmond Borough branch of MIND was the chosen beneficiary.
The rationale behind MIND being chosen was due to members of the Lodge experiencing the detrimental effects of mental health conditions occurring within their own families.
On 23 September 2023, Campbell Lodge was officially presented with a cheque for the sum of £1500 by W Bro. Peter Gledhill, PGStB at the regular meeting, along with a commemorative plaque which the Middlesex Masonic Charity wished to have presented to MIND at a future date.
Subsequently on 20 January 2024, the newly installed Worshipful Master, W Bro. Matthew Gawn, arranged to meet with Suzanne Lynn of MIND at the Cole Court Centre in Twickenham to present the aforementioned plaque and to discuss how not only Campbell Lodge, but also Freemasonry in general, might work with MIND in forging a future worthwhile relationship.
It is hoped that the CEO of the Richmond Borough branch of MIND, Val Farmer, might attend the next meeting of Campbell Lodge on Saturday 22 June 2024 to give a presentation of the work they do and how the Charity can assist those directly affected by the effects of mental health conditions. The planned presentation would be preceded by the regular meeting of Campbell Lodge where the Ceremony of Passing will be conducted on behalf of Letchworth Lodge No 3505, in Metropolitan Grand Lodge, to be followed by a White Table dinner.
Any Brethren who might wish to attend should contact the Secretary, W Bro. Clive Smith, PProvSGD, for details.
