Middlesex Freemasons Attend National Service of Remembrance

at the National Memorial Arboretum, Staffordshire.

On Saturday, 1st November, members of the Province of Middlesex joined Freemasons from Provinces across England and Wales at the National Service of Remembrance, held at the National Memorial Arboretum in Alrewas, Staffordshire.

This annual service provides a solemn opportunity for Freemasons to unite in remembrance of all those who have given their lives in the service of their country. The National Memorial Arboretum, with its tranquil setting and striking memorials, offered a fitting and dignified location for the occasion.

A delegation of twenty Brethren from Middlesex, led by the Pro Provincial Grand Master, RW Bro David Allan, attended the service, accompanied by members of the Provincial Executive, representatives of the Middlesex Armed Forces Lodge, and other Brethren together with their partners. Their presence reflected the Province’s deep respect and continuing commitment to the principles of service, remembrance, and unity.

The service was attended by over 600 Freemasons and guests, with every Province represented. Wreaths were laid on behalf of each Province as a tribute to the fallen. During the ceremony, RW Bro David Allan laid a wreath on behalf of the Province of Middlesex, a gesture symbolising both gratitude and enduring remembrance for those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of freedom.

The Province was especially proud to be represented by members of the Middlesex Armed Forces Lodge, whose participation underscored the long-standing bond between Freemasonry and the Armed Forces. Their involvement served as a poignant reminder of the shared values of duty, loyalty, and brotherhood that unite both institutions.

Following the ceremony, members of the Middlesex delegation and their partners gathered for lunch in the historic city of Lichfield, providing an opportunity for fellowship and reflection on the day’s moving events. The occasion was one of dignity and pride, marking Middlesex’s continuing support for remembrance and the values it represents within both Freemasonry and the wider community.
