60-Year Service Certificates to Freemasonry

RW Bro Peter Baker provides this additional newsworthy item. He says, “An arguably unique occurrence has recently taken place where four members of a London and Middlesex Lodges celebrated their 60-Years of Long Service to Freemasonry.

RW Bro David Cons, PProProvGM, VW Bro Keith Smith, TD, PGSwdB, W Bro Geoffrey Cameron, PAGDC, and W Bro Barrow Isaacs, PAGDC are all members of the Old Pauline Lodge No. 3969 (London), which is the Lodge attached to their alma mater, St Paul’s School, and they are also all members of Middlesex Lodges. They were due to receive their 60-Year Long Service Certificates at the regular meeting of the Old Pauline Lodge held at the School on Thursday 12 October 2023 but, unfortunately, neither of W Bros Geoffrey Cameron nor Barrow Isaacs were able to attend, so other arrangements were made for the presentation of their Certificates. However, VW Bro Dr Simon Thorn GChap presented RW Bro David Cons with his Certificate, whilst W Bro Martin Smith SLGR, MetGInsp presented VW Bro Keith Smith with his Certificate at the end of the meeting, after which all the Brethren retired to the Mongomery Room for a convivial, celebratory Festive Board.

Subsequently, on Wednesday 29 November 2023, RW Bro Peter Baker PProProvGM, accompanied by his wife, Sarah, visited W Bro Barrow Issacs and his wife, Frances, at their home in Pennorth, near Brecon in South Wales, to present him with his two Certificates on behalf of the Metropolitan Grand Lodge of London and the Province of Middlesex.

Finally, RW Bro Peter Baker PProProvGM, accompanied by W Bro Rabbi Zvi Solomon, AGChap, MetDepGChap, the Secretary of the Old Pauline Lodge, visited W Bro Geoffrey Cameron at his home in Windsor, Berkshire on Monday 19 February 2024 to present him with his two Certificates on behalf of the Metropolitan Grand Lodge of London and the Province of Middlesex. Amongst other offices held, W Bro Geoffrey was a former Provincial Grand Treasurer for Middlesex and, for many years, was a Trustee and the Chairman of Staines Masonic Hall.

It is believed to be a unique achievement for four members of the same School Lodge to complete 60-Years of long and distinguished service to Freemasonry in the same 12-month period”.
