Temple of Uxbridge Lodge No 7660 has been supporting the local Stroke Association charity for a couple of years. Ricky Mills who works locally for the charity just happens to be the son of the Lodge Almoner, Bro John Mills. The team at Hillingdon Stroke Support recently gave this update regarding the generous donations given by the Lodge during 2025. Here is the report:

1. Trip to De Havilland Aircraft Museum – July 2025.
On this day, we braved the summer heat to learn about all the different aircrafts and the crucial part that the Mosquito played in WW2, followed by a lovely meal in the hangar overseeing the indoor collection.

2. Hiring of Music Therapists from Chiltern Music Therapy – August and November 2025.
Music therapy has been a hit with Group members who struggle with Aphasia (the loss and difficulty with speaking, reading or writing). They have said that singing really helps them to find their words. One of the sessions included relaxing beach-side ambience which helped people to address their stress.

3. Trip to Royal Albert Hall – October 2025.
This was the second visit to the Royal Albert Hall. This time we booked two booths with catering, providing us with a special view of the performers – Symphonic Queen (cover band).

4. The Christmas meal at Biggles Restaurant, Denham – December 2025.
The Christmas Meal at Biggles Restaurant, Denham Aerodrome, has been a memorable experience and the guest of honour was Cllr Philip Corthorne, the current Hillingdon Mayor. Everyone enjoyed a day of festivities, with a gift hamper and transport provided for all who needed it.

The team at Hillingdon Stroke Association team thanked the Lodge for all donations received and hope for continued and onward support for the work the Charity does for people affected by strokes in Hillingdon. All of these events and trips have been partially covered by donations from Temple of Uxbridge Lodge, which allows all group members to contribute a subsidised rate towards these outings, reducing the financial barrier that people may be facing.
