The Chapter Support and Demonstration Team of Prince Michael of Kent Chapter No 9120 was charged in January 2022 to perform a reenactment of Arch Lodge Masonry in 1750 to celebrate the 150th Anniversary in 2020 of the Royal Arch in the Province of Middlesex. The celebration had been delayed by the Covid pandemic and the associated suspension of Masonic activity. The script for the reenactment was researched and written by E Comp Mike Karn, PProv3rdGPrin and a former Prestonian Lecturer.
The first performance was delivered at Cole Court on the 6th of May 2022 to a special convocation of Provincial Grand Chapter hosted by Strawberry Hill Chapter No 946 to celebrate at last the 150th Anniversary of the Royal Arch in the Province of Middlesex.
Since then, the Team has performed to enthusiastic and appreciative audiences on the following occasions.
- 27 June 2022 to PMK Chapter No 9120 at Twickenham
- 3 October 2022 to London Stone Chapter 2536 at Twickenham
- 26 November 2022 to Alert Chapter 5861 at Twickenham
- 3 December 2022 to Middlesex Masters Uxbridge Lodge 9292 at Uxbridge, the first performance to a Craft Lodge.
- 20 April2023 to Essex First Principals Chapter 3256 at Southend Masonic Centre, the first demonstration to be delivered outside the Province of Middlesex, which was very well received by an audience of over 100 companions in attendance. To show its appreciation, the Chapter presented the team with a cheque for £350 to donate to a chosen charity.
- 8 June 2023 to Buckingham Chapter No 591, The Bucks Research Chapter, in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire
The Team is now dealing with a number of further enquiries for performances and is available to Lodges and Chapters who might want to turn a meeting or convocation into a special occasion by inviting other units to attend.
The team is also looking for new members to join it and provide more flexibility in availability. The team is managed under the auspices of PMK Chapter No 9120, but it is not necessary to be a member of the Chapter to join the Demonstration Team. All that is needed is an enthusiasm for performing ritual and being part of a dynamic and friendly bunch of guys who enjoy each other’s company.
