Brethren in Action on and off the Rugby Field

A proud moment for the Province saw one of our own, Bro Colin Savill, take to the pitch representing the Middlesex Supervets Rugby team in a thrilling fixture against Bedford RFC. Also a player for Feltham RFC, Bro Savill demonstrated both skill and determination in what proved to be an exciting and closely contested match.

The game itself was a true showcase of competitive spirit, with the lead changing hands multiple times throughout. In the end, the visitors Middlesex edged ahead to secure a narrow 39–43 victory over the Bedfordshire Barbarians, bringing an exhilarating encounter to a fitting conclusion.

Beyond the action on the field, the event also delivered significant success in charitable fundraising—an outcome that reflects the very best values of rugby and Freemasonry alike. Thanks to the generosity of players, supporters, and sponsors, nearly £250 was raised for Spectrum Community Arts, which provides creative workshops for individuals with disabilities and additional needs.

In addition, almost £350 was raised for AndysManClub, a vital organisation focused on improving men’s mental health and preventing suicide.

Gratitude was also extended to the sponsors and to Leighton Buzzard Rugby Football Club for their excellent hospitality in hosting the event.

This initiative continues to grow from strength to strength, combining sport, camaraderie, and charity—an effort made possible by the dedication of everyone involved.
