Lodge Secretaries will have recently received a communication from Lifelites and below is a precis of that letter. The Province of Middlesex has provided amazing financial support to the Charity Lifelites, which has been well documented in Mercury. The work of the Charity continues unabated and still relies heavily on the generosity of freemasons with whom there has been a long and proud association. Lifelites has been making a difference to the lives of children and young people in hospices across Britain and Ireland for 25 years.
Since the Charity’s inception as a special millennium project for the Royal Masonic Trust for Boys and Girls, they have provided life-changing assistive and sensory technology, training and technical support to the children’s palliative care sector, enabling over 150,000 children with life-limiting conditions to play, create and communicate with the people they love.
The Chair of the Trustees, Tony Harvey, said that he was proud to say that Freemasonry had a special bond with Lifelites, and that many had seen first-hand the impact of the charity’s vital work. As Chair of the Trustees and a passionate advocate of the charity, he wanted to thank all for the support already given and asked that we might continue to do so. He believed that this would be a very meaningful way for Freemasons to bring shared values to life, within the heart of our communities.
Lifelites have now begun celebrating our 25th Anniversary year with an exciting series of projects to increase the number of children and families accessing the amazing technology provided by the Charity.
The letter went on to advise that each quarter the Charity would share with freemasons, especially donors and supporters in the Province, the progress, news, stories and examples of the impact of their work which will start in Spring. In this way we would be kept updated on how our generous support is empowering children with life-limiting conditions.
