W. Bro Perry Roper PPrJGD, Secretary of Ickenham St Giles Lodge No 6028, has provided this report on the sterling efforts of his son to raise charitable funds for the Lodge.
“My son, Jack Roper, a Lewis, came to me 2 months ago and asked what charity he might support for the Richmond Marathon that he planned to participate in on Sunday 10th Sept 2023. He wanted to support a local charity and I suggested he run for Ickenham St Giles Lodge 6028 and place donations within the Masonic Charitable Foundation. He duly agreed and started with a donations page with a £500 Target and then proceeded the gruelling training.
The Brethren of the Lodge rallied around him and on the day the heat was so intense the London Ambulance Service and Police declared a major incident as the organisers had run out of water between miles 20 and 25. Undeterred Jack soldiered on as he knew that his efforts were being supported by the many donations that were pledged. He finally came in with a time of 4 hours 24 Mins which on the day was fantastic.
Donations raised were well over target and stand at over £1200.” https://donate.givetap.co.uk/f/masonic-charitable-foundation/l6028-ickenham-st-giles-lodge/jacks-marathon-for-local-charities
Ed: This is a fantastic achievement and many congratulations to your son, Jack, for completing the marathon and exceeding his fundraising target for the Ickenham St Giles Lodge No 6028. It’s always heartwarming to see communities come together to support a local cause. Thanks for sharing the donation link, and I hope the funds raised make a significant difference for the charity.
