Middlesex St David’s Chapter no. 5460 distinguished for its Welsh heritage, had the honour of welcoming E. Comp Howard Hughes, PGStB, 3rd Provincial Grand Principal on his official visit on the 18th September.
This visit was a momentous occasion for the chapter, as it is rare for a Welsh-focused chapter to receive such a high-level dignitary within the Royal Arch Freemasonry.
E. Comp Howard was accompanied by his escorting officers, E. Comp Kevin Saunders, DepProvGDC, E. Comp Gary Skinner, PrAssGSoj, E. Comp Leon Hubbard, PrAsstGDC, E. Comp Eugene Bell Gam, ProvGStwd and E. Comp Mandeep Sehmi, ProvGStwd. Their presence added to the significance of the event and highlighted the chapter’s prominent role within the Masonic community.
The meeting featured two notable lectures delivered by respected members of the chapter, further enriching the evening.
E. Comp David Rees delivered a thoughtful and educational lecture on the life and legacy of King David. This was followed by a superb delivery of the Mystical Lecture by E. Comp Mitch Mitchell which delved into the deeper, esoteric aspects of Freemasonry, both lectures provided thought-provoking insights, enriching the evening with historical and mystical reflections.
Following the lectures, E. Comp Howard Hughes addressed the chapter, commending its dedication to preserving its Welsh identity while contributing to the wider Masonic community. He praised Middlesex St David’s for its unique role as a special interest Chapter and urged its members to continue their proud traditions, further fostering unity and brotherhood within Freemasonry.
The evening culminated in a superb festive board and traditionally, a rousing rendition of the Welsh national anthem.
