Ambassadors To The St Margaret’s Fair

The Fair took place on Saturday July 6th at Moormead Park, St Margarets which is situated very close to TDMC and the Provincial Office. The website inviting stall holders to register will inform you that it is a fantastic day out for the local community, which no doubt it is, during the height of the summer. The Team who attended representing Middlesex Freemasonry may have a different interpretation of the word summer. Nevertheless, the show went on with our three masonic volunteers; Mike Emmett, Jim Owens and Iain Raymond who braved the weather outcome.

The day started very wet and windy, and the team managed to get the equipment erected at 9.00am for a 12.00pm start. The weather did not improve and the wind was very strong. The rain continued. Once or twice, there was a feeling that the Gazebo might take off. However, the team managed to hold it down, even after pegging it to the ground. Despite all this trauma a welcome cup of coffee arrived at about 11 which warmed everyone up.

Once the proceedings got under way there was a small trickle of people. There had been one very interested person who filled in a form and hopefully his interest will prove fruitful.  Several women turned up, and although they did not want to fill out applications, were very interested in knowing more and took some leaflets away with them.

Later in the afternoon the team were rewarded with ice cream courtesy of Keith Gregory who manages the Ambassadors. Then it was time to put everything away. Even this proved challenging as the weather was not giving in. The gazebo was fortuitously left until last as a late heavy shower had the team diving for cover under its protective canopy.

Although there was only one application, everybody managed to keep smiling, and were sure that the passers-by could see the happy and beneficial effects of our Ancient and Honourable Institution.

Organiser Keith Gregory said he is always looking for Middlesex Masons to be part of the Exhibition Team which aims to raise awareness of Freemasonry and assist those who express interest in joining the Province. Anyone wishing to know more about joining the Team of Volunteers should contact Keith Gregory by email  keithgregory100@yahhoo.co.uk leaving your details so he might contact you for an informal chat at a mutually convenient time.
