Elliot Lodge Celebrates 150 Years

On Saturday, 6  December 2025, Elliot Lodge No. 1567, meeting at Cole Court, celebrated its 150th Anniversary.

To mark this significant sesquicentennial milestone, a special meeting of celebration was convened, bringing together 61 brethren, members, guests, and dignitaries to honour Elliot Lodge’s distinguished history and its enduring contributions to Freemasonry.

The afternoon commenced with the formal opening of the Lodge, after which the brethren were honoured by the entrance of the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, V. W. Bro. Jim Mitchell, PGSwdB, accompanied by his Provincial Team: W. Bro. Frankie Wheelan Mellor, PProvDepGDC; W. Bro. Keith Flint, ProvSGD; W. Bro. Bhupen Lodhia, ProvGPurs; W. Bro. Christopher Bright,  ProvGStwd; and W. Bro. Mattthew Jennings, ProvGStwd.

The Deputy Provincial Grand Master delivered a most engaging, informative, and entertaining address, reflecting on the history of Elliot Lodge over the past 150 years, before returning the proceedings to the regular Lodge Officers.

During the meeting, W. Bro. Derek Morton was duly installed as Worshipful Master by W. Bro. John M. Lill.

The celebrations continued at the Festive Board, where brethren enjoyed an excellent meal prepared and served by Cole Court’s banqueting team. The dinner comprised a five-course menu faithfully recreating that enjoyed at the Centenary Meeting 50 years ago.

All brethren were presented with a commemorative engraved glass tankard, together with a commemorative booklet containing historical notes spanning the period from 1875 to the present day, offering attendees an insight into the rich heritage of Elliot Lodge and its contributions to Freemasonry.

In keeping with the spirit of the celebration, a newly created display unit featuring the updated versions of the Past Master Wall Boards from Staines was presented on a new stand. This marked their first display since the Lodge’s move to Cole Court approximately six years ago.

Both the meeting itself and the subsequent Festive Board together marked a truly special and memorable milestone in the history of Elliot Lodge, celebrated and enjoyed by all in attendance.
