Enfield Lodge Builds With Precision

On Monday, 10th March 2025, the Brethren of Enfield Lodge No. 1237 were honoured to receive a distinguished guest in their Southgate Temple, W. Bro Warren Gell, PGJD, Assistant Provincial Grand Master, accompanied by his official escort, on the occasion of his Official Visit.

The evening was made all the more special by the initiation of Mr James Philips, conducted by the Worshipful Master, W. Bro Stephen Besemer. While Mr Philips may not have realised it at the time, he was stepping into Freemasonry under the gaze of some of the Province’s most senior Brethren, an auspicious start to his Masonic journey.

The Provincial Team’s entrance, under the faultless direction of W. Bro David Smith, Provincial Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies, was executed with military precision and a touch of grandeur that set the tone for the evening. W. Bro Gell’s address to the candidate was both heartfelt and inspiring, truly a highlight for Bro Philips and the Brethren alike.

Credit must be given to those who contributed to the excellent ritual on the night: W. Bro Peter Rhodes, PProvGStwd, W. Bro Maurice Ndirika, ProvGSuptWks, and W. Bro Gitan Parmar, PProvGStwd, each delivered their parts with eloquence and dignity. Our thanks also go to W. Bro Peter King, PPDepGReg, LGR, our newly appointed Visiting Officer—who graciously postponed his own inaugural official visit to allow the Provincial Officers their moment.

The members of Enfield Lodge were rightly proud of their role in the ceremony. Under the steady guidance of the Worshipful Master, the initiation was conducted with near-flawless precision, demonstrating both dedication and Masonic spirit.

Following the meeting, the Festive Board was a joyful affair, full of warmth, laughter, and true fraternal harmony. It was the kind of evening that reminds us all why we cherish the Craft.

In his closing words, W. Bro Gell thanked the Lodge for the warmth of his reception and commended the Brethren for their evident friendship, humour, and strength in numbers, especially with more initiates already in the pipeline. He expressed his delight in the evening and his sincere wish to return again in the near future.
