The Brethren of the Parthenon Lodge No 7310, which meets at Southgate Masonic Centre, have been busy exploring ways to encourage prospective candidates to consider joining the Lodge. What better way than to organise a social gathering at the same time supporting Lodge member, Bro. Alekos Kleanthos, who had recently ventured into the Café business by opening a new establishment “Hermans” in Arnos Grove, not far from Southgate.
An invitation was extended to other Lodges and the event was held on the 23rd July. It was also attended by the Lodge VO W. Bro Rob Weare who made the arduous journey from Staines.
This social event was an opportunity for the members to get to know each other better and away from the more formal occasions of meetings and LOI’s. Being held in a Café specialising in Coffee, the evening included a short presentation on the origins of coffee as a drink followed by a light-hearted quiz.
£90.00 was raised for the Shooting Stars Hospices charity, with Bro. Alekos asking only cost price for food and drinks so that more could be donated.
It was a very enjoyable and successful event which mirrored the Province’s core values of meeting each other and having fun. Indeed, Bro Alekos’s son, who is currently away at University, is hopefully a future candidate for the Lodge. The Lodge Event Coordinator, Gitam Parmar, is keen to arrange more events and hopes to extend invitations to all Middlesex masons and establish fraternal links with other Southgate Lodges.
