Justice & Peace In The Community

W. Bro Paul Doran ProvJGW visited the Cedars Youth and Community Centre to present a cheque for £300.00 to the Centre manager, Joe Pizans, in his role as Charity Steward for the Provincial Visiting Officers’ Lodge, Justice & Peace No 8668.

Paul said, “Cedars Youth and Community Centre in Harrow, offers empowerment for local residents. This vibrant hub is more than just a building; it is a place where community spirit thrives, and individuals of all ages come together to learn, grow, and connect.

The Centre offers a number of programs designed to engage and inspire young people. These programmes are crafted to provide a safe and supportive environment where youth can explore their interests, develop new skills, and build lasting friendships. From after-school clubs and holiday camps to creative arts and dance workshops and sports activities, the Centre also places a strong emphasis on leadership development, offering opportunities for young people to take on roles that foster responsibility and community involvement.

Recognising that education and personal development are lifelong pursuits, Cedars provides various programmes aimed at older adults. These include falls prevention courses, walking football, weight management and behaviour change as well as a very popular over 50’s bi-weekly drop-in session which give people the opportunity to meet, play games such as table tennis, badminton and pool, take part in quizzes and enjoy a hot drink and some biscuits. By empowering adults with the tools they need to succeed, Cedars contributes to the overall well-being of the community.”

During his tour of the centre Paul met with a cross section of those taking part in activities, some of whom were curious and wanted to know more about freemasonry. This served as a great opportunity to promote it to people who had not otherwise had any knowledge of it.
