The Installation meeting of St Clair Lodge No 2902 which took place on Saturday 26th April at TDMC was special for two particular reasons. Firstly, it was an occasion to remember the late W. Bro Ron Brickhill PPrJGW who died in September 2017. Apart from leaving generous donations to a number of charities, he also left a bequest to both St Clair Lodge and St Clair Chapter where he had been a member. Using some of the money left to the Lodge it was decided to purchase new working tools. The old working tools are now to be used at the St Clair’s Lodge of Instruction and were presented to the Preceptor W. Bro Colin Roberts PPrGStdB. The new box of tools has a suitable inscription recognising W. Bro Ron and his legacy.

Secondly, it was the Installation of the new Master W. Bro John Nolan. W. Bro John had been initiated in a London Lodge, Ethelburga Lodge No 7677 in 1990 and reached the Office of Senior Warden. However, he never had the opportunity to fulfill that journey to the East and take the Chair of King Solomon as the Lodge surrendered its Warrant. A frustrating moment for him causing him to become unattached for a while. As fortune would have it, or you might call it serendipty run wild, John took up employment with London United Busways as an engineer where he was able to link up with W. Bro Richard Rough, also employed there and had been John’s proposer into freemasonry. Not only that but the outgoing Master of St Clair Lodge, W. Bro Richard Emerton also employed by the same company got busy and Brother Nolan, as he would have been, became a joining member of St Clair Lodge and a Middlesex Mason. The journey to the East recommenced after the regrettable detour. Back on track W. Bro Richard had the pleasure of Installing Bro John Nolan as Worshipful Master and work colleague and fellow Mason Richard Rough also attended. Job done.
The meeting was an occasion for a visit from W. Bro Warren Gell APGM accompanied by his Escort W. Bro Lloyd Bubb ProvDepGDC who is related to W. Bro Darryl Bubb a member of St Clair Lodge. The Labours of the day had not yet ended and W. Bro Warren presented a Grand Lodge Certificate to Brother John Nowak. The Lodge was pleased to receive as a guest W. Bro John Leggat PAPGM
A memorable and busy day for the Lodge and testament surely to the bonds of friendship which transfer from the workplace to the Temple.
