On 7th July, Temple of Uxbridge Lodge No. 7660 rolled out the red carpet (metaphorically speaking) to welcome W Bro Warren Gell, Assistant Provincial Grand Master, for what would be his final official visit before the summer break. Accompanying him was W Bro Lloyd Bubb, Past Deputy Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies, along with an impressive escort of Provincial Officers—who arrived looking sharp and ready for action.
Despite being offered the gavel, W Bro Warren graciously declined, preferring instead to sit back, relax, and enjoy the main event: the Passing of Bro Nick Tunney to the Second Degree.
The ceremony was conducted in fine form by W Bro Darren Payne, Worshipful Master of the Lodge, who led proceedings with calm confidence and clear command. The Lodge officers were equally on point, with Bro Arthur Stone, Senior Deacon, handling his duties with all the steadiness of a man who’s been secretly rehearsing in the mirror for weeks (and it paid off!).
The Temple itself was nicely filled with many visitors and the energy in the room reflected the sense of occasion. Afterward, the Brethren retired to the Festive Board, where the only thing warmer than the welcome was the roast dinner & gravy.
Toasts were given with full-hearted enthusiasm, stories were shared, and as always, laughter echoed through the hall.
All in all, it was a wonderful evening — a meaningful ceremony, a full house, great food, and excellent company. It was a perfect way to round off W Bro Warren’s official visits before the summer break — and no doubt he’ll now be swapping the Provincial tie for a pair of sunglasses and a deck chair (until September calls him back to duty).
Wishing all the Brethren a restful and restorative summer — and may your ritual books stay safely on the shelf for at least a few weeks!
