It was a busy day at the Royal Middlesex Chapter 468th convocation on 17th October 2024.
We had a special visit from E. Comp Howard Hughes PGStb the Provincial Third Grand Principal, to present Lyn Grenville-Mathers PAGDC with a 50 years certificate in Royal Arch Masonry. Ex Comp Lyn had been initiated into Bentley Priory Lodge 6134 (a Middlesex lodge now erased) on 13th October 1966 and had been exalted into Moriah Chapter 34 in London on 6th June 1974.
His joining of Royal Middlesex Chapter 1194 in 2013 was an acknowledgement of Bentley Priory Lodge being a stalwart of the Royal Middlesex Chapter for the last 50 years until its demise. Lyn’s involvement with Middlesex and London Masonry has been closely entwined reflecting a rich masonic history.
Alongside honours in Craft, Lyn received LGCR in 1990 followed by SLGR in 1999 and also became a visiting officer in Chapter in London in 2011. He received Royal Arch Grand Rank of PAGDC in 2018.

Ex Comp Lyn’s goal is to cement the relationships that have been forged over 50 years in both London and Middlesex and for Royal Middlesex Chapter, he brings his significant expertise and bearing to the role of Director of Ceremonies within the Chapter and to ensure the quality of its work continues at a high level.
After the meeting, the festivities changed to reflect the continual focus of Royal Arch to grow its membership. With that aim, Royal Middlesex Chapter held the first blue table at HDMC (an event for freemasons who are not in Chapter) where we entertained members from the feeding Lodge of Eastcote St Lawrence and guests from other Lodges. Those craft freemasons’ goal was to seek an understanding how joining Royal Arch Masonry is the continuance of their masonic journey and growing their knowledge in Ancient Freemasonry. A powerpoint presentation was warmly received by all and there are now elevated expectations of moving an interest in the Royal Arch into the action of joining.
