W. Bro Abraham Dick PPrSGW, affectionately known as Abe, continues to be an inspiring figure within Middlesex Freemasonry. At 95, his enthusiasm for the Craft is as vibrant as ever.
A member of Putney Bridge Lodge No. 6686, Great Lights Lodge No. 8084, and Sir Charles Bright Chapter No. 1793, Abe is a triple Past Master and a triple Past Most Excellent Zerubbabel (MEZ).
Next November (2025), he will mark 35 years of devoted service to Freemasonry, an impressive milestone for someone initiated later in life in 1990, but what makes Abe’s Masonic journey even more remarkable is the care and kindness he receives from Louise and the dining team at the Twickenham District Masonic Centre (TDMC). While Abe’s determination sees him travel via bus from Brentford to Twickenham to attend meetings, it’s the warm, thoughtful support of the TDMC dining staff that ensures his experience is truly special.
Louise and her team are the heart and soul of the TDMC dining experience. They go above and beyond to make every Mason feel welcomed and cared for, but their bond with Abe is particularly touching. Whenever Abe wins a raffle prize, he graciously gives it to the staff—a gesture of gratitude that has cultivated a relationship of mutual respect and affection. In return, Louise and her team ensure Abe never leaves empty-handed, often packing up an extra meal for him to warm up in the microwave and enjoy the next day.
But their care doesn’t stop there, after every Festive Board, she personally ensures he has safe transport home, arranging either a lift or a cab. This thoughtful routine exemplifies the very best of what Middlesex Freemasonry stands for—compassion, fraternity, and care.
Louise and her team are, without a doubt, “Simply the Best”. Their exceptional service, warmth, and attention to detail make them integral to the TDMC community. They don’t just serve meals; they create an environment where Masons feel valued and supported.
In the words of Tina Turner would say, “better than all the rest.”
