On Saturday 14th December 2024 Bro Tomasz Nowack was raised to the degree of Master Mason at St Clair Lodge 2902 meeting at Twickenham. In itself, although an important step in any freemason’s life, it was the nature of initial contact which developed in Brother Tomasz becoming a freemason. But before then he had found an interest in the Dan Brown films and books which had a masonic nuance and this he wanted to develop. This was quite a few years back when Dan Brown was making headlines with his controversial storylines.
Brother Tomasz then decided to leave Poland, not to seek for that which was lost, but to seek for that which was yet to be found. He eventually ended up in the UK as a relatively young Pole with his wife and took a job working for the bus company RATP Dev Transport operating out of Fulwell Garage. It was here that Tomasz met W. Bro Richard Emerton the current Master of St Clair Lodge. But that is to move ahead too quickly.
Having now arrived in the UK and working full time Tomasz still pursued his interest in freemasonry and dearly wished he would be able to join the organisation. He made trips to Great Queen Street and did the guided tours of the Grand temple more than once. It was by chance that W. Bro Richard had seen a check in by Tomasz on Facebook and saw that it was Freemasons’ Hall. Richard then mentioned to his work colleague that he was a freemason in Middlesex. Tomasz was absolutely thrilled and delighted and after some discussion Richard said that he would start the process of introducing members of the Lodge socially as a prelude to joining. However, this was just before the Covid outbreak and things had to be put on the back burner for a while. So having been raised to the degree of Master Mason, the journey from the east (Poland) now has to be reversed as Tomasz makes his way to the east in the Lodge to the Master’s Chair and hopefully, he will have the opportunity in the fullness of time to fulfil his masonic aspirations.
