It was August 29th, 2022, when members of Sunbury Lodge No 1733 received the sad news of the passing to the Grand Lodge Above of their Worshipful Master, W Bro Steve Wilson, PPrSGD. Steve had his share of health problems, but his sudden passing at the age of 73 was felt deeply by all who knew him. He had been a stalwart supporter of the Lodge and it’s LOI since joining on the 27thApril 2016, following the closure of Kenyngton Manor Lodge No 7488, a former Lodge in the Province.
Following the announcement of Steve’s passing the Lodge Almoner, W Bro Mick Gibson reached out to the family. However, he was advised of Steve’s wish that only family attend the funeral and a subsequent informal gathering of Steve’s family and members of the Lodge be arranged to raise a glass in remembrance of him and to share stories of his involvement with the Sunbury Lodge.
On Monday 26th June 2023 ten members of Steve’s family duly arrived at Cole Court consisting of Vic, Lois, Jethro and Reuben (Sussex branch of his family), Anne, Zoe, and Cameron (Irish branch) and Mike and Adam (Somerset branch). They were received by several of the Members of the Lodge. The weather was extremely kind as Mick Gibson, Vernon Watts, Jim Owens, John Ellaway and Nick Curry raised a glass to Steve’s memory outside on the patio.

After much reminiscing the family members were given a brief tour of a Temple at Cole Court explaining the position Steve’s role within the lodge. They were very appreciative of the esteem and affection the Lodge had for Steve. The Lodge are extremely grateful to Stuart at Cole Court for his help and assistance and to all those who attended this farewell to a much-loved friend and brother.
