The meeting of Barra Hall Lodge No 8096 held on Friday, 23 October, witnessed the double Passing of Brothers Angelo Robert Doroteo and Manuel “Glen” Escudero in the company of our Visiting Officer, W. Bro Lindsay Read PPrGReg, who attended in his official capacity.
The Worshipful Master, W. Bro. Fernando Lazaro, delivered an exemplary Ceremony of Passing, and his card was clearly marked by our Visiting Officer. Lindsay also commented favourably on the performances of the Senior Warden, Bro. Arthur Sanchez, and the Junior Warden, Bro. Nicolas Casana.
The ceremony was ably supported by Bro. Ronald Jabonete, who presented the Working Tools of the Second Degree, and by our Honorary Member, W. Bro. Gordon Gregory PPrSGW, who delivered his legendary presentation of the Second Degree Tracing Board.

Jewels abound for the Middlesex 2031 Festival – W. Bro Lindsay congratulated W. Bro. Charles Southwell PPrAGDC on achieving his Patron Honorific for the Middlesex 2031 Festival. Although W. Bro Brian Bolla ChStwd was unable to attend the meeting us as his wife was undergoing an operation, he too had achieved his Patron Honorific. Lindsay also presented Festival Steward’s Jewels to W. Bro. Jessie Llacer and W. Bro Fred Ventura, both of whom had signed up in the bar before the meeting. This brought the Lodge’s total to 15 members proudly wearing Middlesex 2031 Festival Jewels.
Thanks largely to the efforts of W. Bro Brian Bolla, the Lodge Festival Steward, the Lodge’s Festival Chest stood at £9,891 prior to the meeting, just £608 short of Steward Honorific level. In recognition of Brian’s efforts in raising £641 through the Lodge Summer BBQ, the members decided that a little match funding was in order. Accordingly, the Worshipful Master presented our Visiting Officer with a cheque for £610, securing the Lodge’s Steward Honorific. With two additional jewel sign-ups on the day, the Lodge is now well on its way towards achieving Vice Patron status.

Following a truly excellent meeting and a convivial Festive Board, members and the Visiting Officer retired to the bar to continue their fellowship in the usual Barra Hall manner.
