“On the 13th May Staines St Marys Lodge No 6187 received unexpected visitors during the Lodge’s regular meeting. Deputy Provincial Grand Master VW Bro Jim Mitchell along with APGM W Bro John Leggett PSGD, arrived officially on behalf of the Provincial Grand Master, HRH Prince Michael of Kent, to present a very special Award to Bro Ray Blowers BEM, who along with being the Charity Steward for the Lodge has for many years raised money for Charities across Middlesex in particular for the Penrose Club (https://thepenroseclub.org/) as well as supporting others such as Midas Plus, particularly the annual Staines upon Thames Duck Race – see https://midasplus.org.uk/
Brother Ray has organised many functions from local dinners to lavish Dinner Dances at the Runnymede Hotel to name but just one venue. Now an octogenarian his drive and enthusiasm has not waned, and he still continues to arrange fund raising events regularly.
Despite a new candidate waiting outside the door of the lodge, Ray spoke to VW Bro Jim and the Lodge about the many adventures he has had through his life personally; and the wonderful and fulfilling work he has carried out in raising money.”
