On the 23rdOctober 2023 Ickenham St Giles Lodge No 6028 had the pleasure of initiating Bro David Gingell Jnr with a large number of guests and visitors present to witness the occasion including the APGM, W. Bro John Leggett PSGD on his official visit, together with his escorting team. Other high echelons graced the proceedings with W. Bro Paul Sully PAGSwdB, also an APGM, but a member of Ickenham St Giles. W. Bro John Hoare PAGSuptWks attended in his capacity as Lodge VO. Such numbers in the Lodge must have impressed the new Entered Apprentice and this harks back to the days when Lodge Meetings were brimful. 53 were in attendance which included the Provincial team.
Brother David Jnr had been introduced to the Lodge through the Discover Freemasonry initiative although his father, David Gingell Snr was a freemason outside of the Province. However, David Jnr’s father attended and is proposing to join his son’s Lodge. A kind of Lewis in reverse. Bro David Gingell Jnr was the initiate and a Lewis, and his Father Bro David Gingell Snr were in attendance. The ceremony was carried out by several members of the Lodge which gave all those participating the opportunity to impress upon the candidate the dignity and high importance of freemasonry, to coin a phrase.
The new initiate is a keen darts player playing to a high standard with a local pub team in West Middlesex winning both team and individual events.
Bro David Jnr, as well as the Lodge Secretary look forward to receipt of Form P and welcoming his father into the Ickenham St Gile’s fold as a Joining member.
There is a buzz at Ickenham St Giles and recently three names were read out for Joiners to be balloted for at the next meeting and a candidate for initiation in February. This augurs well for the future especially with the push for members as part of the Provincial membership strategy.
