Steadfast Stan Steps Down

After Seven Years of Exceptional Service
W Bro Stan Marut, PPrJGD SLGR PPrGReg SLGCR and his wife Sandra.

After seven and a half remarkable years as editor-in-chief of the Provincial News Team, W Bro Stan Marut PPrJGD SLGR PPrGReg SLGCR has stepped down from his editorial duties, bringing to an end a period of extraordinary service to Middlesex Freemasonry.

For many Brethren and Companions, Stan has been a familiar and dedicated presence, whether through his editorial work or his personal involvement in various Masonic events. He has been the driving force behind the province’s communications, handling everything from news submissions to crafting feature articles that often involved months of meticulous research.

Over the years, Stan has been instrumental in covering all of Middlesex’s key events, including the installations of two Pro Provincial Grand Masters, the Annual General Meetings for both the Craft and Royal Arch, the Provincial Thanksgiving services, and numerous lodge celebrations, including those of Temple of Athene Lodge No. 9541, the Provincial Research Lodge, and Middlesex Masters Uxbridge Lodge No. 9292, where he currently serves as Senior Warden. Stan is also a member of St Clair Chapter 2902 and Middlesex First Principals 3420 in the Royal Arch where he has also reported Frequently. Stans contribution to the wider Masonic community has been immense, and his work has ensured that these moments were captured and shared for posterity.

Stan’s last day in post was 31st December 2024, and as we bid farewell to the old year, we also said our goodbyes to Stan in his professional capacity. In stepping down, Stan is reducing his Masonic commitments to focus on caring for his wife, Sandra, who requires full-time care.

The Province owes Stan an immense debt of gratitude for his unwavering dedication. W Bro Daniel Graham, Provincial Grand Communications Officer, expressed his heartfelt thanks:

“Today marks the last official day that Stan will serve as editor of our team. As many of you know, Stan has had to downscale his commitments due to his wife’s health and his own. His service to Middlesex and the Provincial Communications Committee has been nothing short of exemplary. We thank him for his incredible effort, hard work, and passion. On behalf of us all, I wish him the very best. Stan, I am sure this won’t be the last we hear from you, and our door will always be open. Happy New Year, with our profound thanks.”

Stan himself, in his signature modesty, shared a light-hearted farewell, saying, “I am now a free man and of the full age of 76”—with his 77th birthday just around the corner in March.

As Stan steps away from his editorial role, we extend our best wishes and sincere thanks for his years of service. His legacy in shaping Middlesex Freemasonry’s communications will undoubtedly live on. Going forward, all news items should be directed to the Provincial Communications Team at news@pglm.org.uk. If you’re interested in joining the team or getting involved in future communications, please reach out to peter.swatton@pglm.org.uk or daniel.graham@pglm.org.uk.

Steadfast Stan may be stepping down, but his legacy of service and dedication will undoubtedly continue to inspire us all for years to come. Finally, I would like to thank Stan for all of the help he has given me since I joined the Communications Team. Thank you, Stan.
