Nkokonjeru Lodge No. 9284 welcomed representatives from two deserving charities to the Harrow District Masonic Centre on Thursday 11 June 2026, where donations raised during the Worshipful Master’s year in office were formally presented.
The Lodge had chosen to support Able Child Africa, a UK charity that works to improve the lives of disabled children across East and Central Africa, and the St Mark’s Hospital Foundation, which funds pioneering research and patient care at London’s internationally renowned specialist hospital for intestinal and colorectal conditions.
Representing Able Child Africa were Danielle and Bharat, while Emma and Jason attended on behalf of the St Mark’s Hospital Foundation.
Supporting Worthy Causes
The presentation ceremony took place in the PMK Temple, where guests were welcomed by members of the Lodge and introduced to Freemasonry, the history of the Temple and the charitable work undertaken by Middlesex Freemasons. In return, both charities spoke about the invaluable work they carry out and how donations such as these make a real difference to those they support.

Bro Rajan Shah, Primus Master W. Bro Mahendra Rajdev, Lodge Secretary W. Bro Umesh Patel, Charity Steward W. Bro Satish Acharya, who conducted the presentation, and the Lodge’s Visiting Officer, W. Bro Paul Lowrey.
On behalf of the Provincial Executive, W. Bro Paul Lowrey thanked the Lodge for its continued generosity and commitment to supporting charitable causes, while also recognising the outstanding work carried out by both organisations.
A Charity Close to the Lodge’s Heart
Able Child Africa also received a donation of £1,379, transferred electronically to the charity following the presentation.
The charity has a particularly close connection with Nkokonjeru Lodge, whose origins lie in Uganda and whose membership includes many Brethren with family ties to East Africa. Supporting children and families across the region made Able Child Africa a particularly meaningful choice for the Worshipful Master’s nominated charity.

Representatives from both charities expressed their sincere gratitude for the generosity shown by the Brethren and assured the Lodge that every pound donated would be used to further their important work.
The afternoon concluded with refreshments and informal conversation, providing an excellent opportunity to strengthen relationships between the Lodge and the charities it had supported so generously.
Through initiatives such as these, Nkokonjeru Lodge No. 9284 continues to demonstrate Freemasonry’s enduring commitment to charity, community and making a positive difference both locally and internationally.
