Community Engagement Team

Shepperton Village Fair Saturday 13 June 2025

Middlesex Freemasonry was delighted to once again have its stand at this year’s Shepperton Village Fair, representing the Province and highlighting the positive contribution that Freemasons make within their local communities.

Representing the Middlesex Ambassadors Team were Guy Dunk, Steven Osgood and Matt Erratt. Keith Gregory joined the team to provide support, enabling Guy to leave shortly after midday, while John Leggett attended during the afternoon to meet visitors and assist with engagement whilst at the event.

Throughout the day, members of the team spoke with visitors about Freemasonry, charitable giving, community involvement, and what membership means to those who choose to join the organisation.

The fair began with the traditional procession through Shepperton, followed by the arrival of the Surbiton Royal British Legion Youth Marching Band. A packed programme of entertainment continued throughout the afternoon, with the BMX bike show proving particularly popular and attracting an enthusiastic crowd.

The event welcomed a steady stream of visitors, providing numerous opportunities for friendly and informal conversations at the Middlesex Freemasonry stand. Many people stopped to learn more about Freemasonry, and we were especially pleased to receive several genuine expressions of interest from individuals wishing to explore their enquiries further.

Events such as the Shepperton Village Fair play an important role in our engagement with the wider community. They provide an opportunity to explain who we are, challenge outdated perceptions, and demonstrate that Freemasonry is active, welcoming, and committed to supporting worthwhile causes.

Just as importantly, these events allow members of the public to speak directly with Freemasons in a relaxed and approachable setting. A simple conversation at a community event can be the beginning of someone’s journey into Freemasonry or help foster a better understanding of the work we do within our communities.

Our thanks go to everyone who assisted on the stand and to the organisers of the Shepperton Village Fair for delivering another enjoyable and well-supported community event.

We would be delighted to hear from members who may be interested in volunteering at future fairs and public engagement events. Whether you can offer a full day or just a few hours, your support can make a real difference.
