Worshipful Brother Rajesh Desai, fondly known as Raj, assumes the esteemed position of Provincial Grand Mentor, entrusted with overseeing mentoring initiatives across lodges throughout the Province of Middlesex. His leadership plays a pivotal role in spearheading the implementation of the Members’ Target Mentoring programme, while also advocating for the timely adoption of the Archway scheme within the Royal Arch. This facilitates seamless transitions for Craft members venturing into the Royal Arch.
With a distinguished career as a retired IT consultant and software engineer specialising in educational and commercial IT systems, Raj brings a wealth of expertise to his new role. His extensive Masonic journey includes serving as Director of Ceremonies and Treasurer for a Lodge, as well as Secretary of The Middlesex Masters Lodge 3420.
Additionally, he serves in trustee capacities for pivotal Masonic entities, including the Boston Manor Lodge 7151 Benevolent Association (BMLBA) and The Masonic Province of Middlesex Charitable Trust (MPMCT), where he fulfils the role of corresponding secretary.
Outside his Masonic commitments, Raj serves as a director of a property investment company and is also a Trustee of various community-based organisations in Luton. In his leisure time, he enjoys exploring new destinations, delving into literature, playing badminton, and cherishing quality moments with his two grandsons. He holds a genuine passion for supporting both Luton Town and QPR Football Club.
Role Profile: Provincial Grand Mentor

This leadership role includes close collaboration with the Provincial Membership Team—comprising the APGM, Almoner, and Membership Officers—to develop and execute strategies that align with the objectives of the Provincial Membership Challenge.
The primary goal of the mentoring initiative is to ensure that every Brother enjoys a fulfilling and rewarding Masonic journey, thereby reducing the risk of resignations from the Fraternity.
Key responsibilities include:
- Implementing the Middlesex Target Mentoring Programme.
- Fostering collaboration between Centre Mentors, Lodge Mentors, and Personal Mentors.
- Utilizing the Members’ Pathway to create and maintain an active and effective mentoring framework in every Lodge.
By promoting teamwork and establishing structured mentoring practices, the Provincial Grand Mentor and his team play a crucial role in enhancing member satisfaction and fostering stronger engagement within the Lodges.
