  1. Bro Rohit Patel PProvJGD and W. Bro Paresh Pandya PPrGSuptWrks

As part of Middlesex Cares initiative W. Bro Rohit Patel PProvJGD gave two talks to members of the Province about Financial Planning and associated subjects. These workshops took place at Harrow and Twickenham in February. These followed on from earlier workshops in September 2025 where the subjects of Wills, Lasting Power of Attorney and staying safe from scams. These talks are planned to be repeated virtually this year in addition to new topics

Many Brethren will still be at work and either running their own businesses or are employed. Whilst personal income flow is optimal, the idea of planning for the future is something that might mistakenly be held over for another day. For those of us who are retired we can testify to the less than adequate State Pension which will not permit us to do all the things we want. Enter W. Bro Rohit who guided those attending the talks through an understanding of planning for the future and to ensure that retirement can be met head on with good financial knowledge.

Attendees at the workshop

The workshops were planned to disseminate educational and informative topics about life insurance, pensions and retirement.

That part of the Insurance Workshop included an explanation of the constituent of an insurance contract, different types of life insurances and their uses, research assistance to lookout for when purchasing and why one should use a financial adviser

The Pensions Workshop expanded on various types of pensions for the employed and self-employed leading to the final part of preparing for retirement

These workshops are open to family and friends of masons and companions.  It was great to see that a few members of the audience brought their partners and family members. Both workshops were well received.  The attendees showed a keen interest in attending future workshops which will cover different areas of finance related topics.

The Middlesex Cares Team is actively considering doing these seminars virtually which perhaps will allow more people to participate.
