Having just celebrated 70 years since its consecration (see here: https://middlesexfreemasons.org.uk/70-years-of-parthenon-lodge/), Parthenon Lodge No 7310 was once again in the spotlight as it received an official visit from APGM W. Bro Robert Rough PSGD to present a 70 year certificate to the Lodge’s very first initiate, W. Bro. Ron Chesterman PPrSGW.

Ron was a 28 year old Lewis when he was initiated on 6 April 1954, at which ceremony his father, a founding member, took the role of Deacon for the ceremony. He was passed in June 1954 and raised in September the same year, before being installed as Worshipful Master of the Lodge almost nine years to the day from his initiation, in April 1963.

Now 98, Ron remains active in Masonry. He moved to Hampshire and joined Panmure Lodge No 728, which he attends regularly and once a year, bringing with him a number of visitors from Panmure, he journeys to Southgate to visit Parthenon Lodge. This year, being such a special occasion, attracted a large number of visitors, with a total of six Provinces being represented to witness Ron’s remarkable achievement.

A gift of a bottle of Ron’s favourite tipple, together with a framed copy of the page he signed in the Declaration book on the day of his initiation, was presented by the APGM on behalf of the brethren of Parthenon. Afterwards, Ron responded by recalling the many happy memories he had of Masonry, with the celebrations continuing well into the festive board.
