A Night of Secrets, Banter, and Charity

Monday 3rd February was a night to remember at Temple of Uxbridge Lodge No. 7660 as we welcomed our newest brother, Nick Tunney, into the fold! Guided by W Bro Darren Payne SLGR, our Worshipful Master, Nick took his first steps into the Secrets and Mysteries of Freemasonry—though we suspect he already had a head start.

You see, Nick had done his homework before joining, thanks to the wise words of his friend, W Bro Les Moody, a Hertfordshire Mason. Les gave him some solid advice: Find a lodge that’s friendly, full of banter, close to home, and welcoming. Well, Temple of Uxbridge ticked all those boxes (and then some!), making for an initiation filled with warmth, laughter, and great company.

To mark the occasion, our very own W Bro Peter Halls-Dickerson, the ‘grandfather’ of the lodge (and longest-serving member), presented Bro Nick with a Provincial Initiates Pack—taking great joy in explaining each piece of Masonic literature as he handed it over. With so much wisdom passed on, we’re confident Nick will feel right at home in no time!

Charity Clay Shoot Hits the Target!

The evening wasn’t just about welcoming new members—it was also about giving back. W Bro Ricky Hartland was on hand to present a £950 cheque to W Bro Reg Austin (WM) in aid of the Master’s Column during his year at the helm. This fantastic sum was raised back in May, when Ricky, our Charity Steward, organised a cracking charity Clay Shoot at the scenic Tittershall Lodge, near Aylesbury (now sadly closed).

Over 50 sharp-shooters from across Middlesex Freemasonry and beyond took part, proving that Masons are just as handy with a shotgun as they are with a ritual book! A fantastic day of sport, camaraderie, and fundraising resulted in a very worthy contribution to our lodge’s charitable efforts.

A huge thank you to everyone who made the evening—and the charity event—such a resounding success. Brotherhood, banter, and benevolence—that’s what it’s all about at Temple of Uxbridge Lodge!
